ANISNote_125 Problems with Tally Printers using Parallel interfaces with Personal Computers |
|
It has been observed that some printers' interfaces benefit from the disabling of Windows LPT1 ECP Printer Port settings within Windows. Usually setting the LPT1 port parameters in the Windows Control Panel is sufficient to allow the printer/PC/Laptop interfaces to communicate.
In the bottom of this window you will see one of two possible selections depending on the version of Windows that you have. Windows 95 Operating System Release 1.
Windows 95 Operating System Release 2 and Windows 98
Occasionally, it has been found that in addition to the above setting the PC or Laptop Bios also requires modification. If you have completed the above instructions and your printer still does not communicate correctly with Windows 95/98 please check your PC's Bios. If you are unsure how to enter the Bios of your particular PC please consult your PC's User Manual. Once into the Bios you should see settings for Printer Port or LPT1. If the Bios LPT1 is set to ECP or EPP please change it to SPP (Standard PC Printer) or Output Only (especially when on a Compac PC). Save and Exit. |
