MT151 Printer

|

No
Display when Powered On
|
| |
This can be caused by several things:-
-
Check that your
interface card is correctly inserted and locked into the rear of the
printer. The lock lever to the right of the interface slot should be in a vertical
position when locked.
-
If
it is a brand new printer or brand new interface check that the correct
interface has been inserted. E.g. if the printer is a MT150/9 and the
interface inserted is for a MT15X/24 and vice versa. See the above note
about Interface Exchangeability
-
This
can also happen if an old MT13X interface has been inserted. The
interfaces for the MT13X and MT15X look similar and will physically fit
but because the MT13X had no display it gives a blank display on the
MT15X.
-
If
all the above are correct it could be a genuine fault on the printer or
interface and you should contact our Repair Centre for advice on getting
the printer repaired.

Setting The Top of Form, Form Length and Tear
Position |
| |
Follow these instructions in the
order given:
-
SETTING THE FORM LENGTH
- Measure the length of
your stationery in inches. Take the printer off-line, press the set-up key,
press the button under the display under the option Menu. Then press next until
Papopt and Formlen is displayed, press Formlen it gives the option of Lines or
Standard. If you select Lines use the up or down arrows in the display to set
the form length of your paper in lines i.e. 6 lines - 1 inch (6 lines per inch
is the default value in the menu of the printer, however this can be changed)
so 66 lines = an 11 inch form length. When you have the desired setting press
Set an asterisk should appear next to your selection. Exit the menu by pressing
the set-up key. If you choose to select Standard instead of Lines it allows you
to set various pre-programmed paper sizes i.e. A4 etc.
-
SETTING THE TOP OF FORM POSITION
- Unload the
paper and place it in the first three pins of the tractor. Press TOF in the
menu and paper will then load automatically. This display reads FORMADJ =
12/72. This setting gives a print one line down from the top of the page. If
you require a smaller top of form press arrow up or down to 0/72. For a 1-inch
top of form set FORMADJ - 72/72. When you have the desired setting press Set
and an asterisk should appear next to your selection. The adjustment will be
the amount of gap between the top edge of the paper and the front tear bar.
When Set is pressed the printer will return the paper down to the print-head
top of form position ready for printing.
-
SETTING TEAR OFF POSITION
- After setting top of
form the menu will go to off-line with a tear option in the display. Press tear
and the paper will advance to the tear position. This can then be adjusted with
the up and down arrow keys. To set press tear again.
NOTE - If the above procedure does not work power
on the printer holding down all four buttons under the printer's LCD display
this will restore the factory default values. Then follow steps 1 to 3 again.
Please note all the printer menu settings will have to be set-up from scratch
so any settings that you have made will change back to default.

"Printhead Hot" Message when first
powered on |
| |
If it were a genuine hot printhead it will come
up after the printer has been printing for a time. If the printer comes up with
this message straight out of the box or after a new interface has been
purchased then please check that the interface inserted is the correct one for
the printer you have. This error has been known to come up if the wrong
interface has been inserted. E.g. if the printer is a MT150/9 and the interface
inserted is for a MT15X/24 and vice versa.
See the following note about Interface
Interchangeability.

Interface
Interchangeability |
| |
The 9 and 24 needle interfaces do differ
from each other. The 9 and 24 needle interfaces are specific to that type of
printer and not interchangeable. The correct part numbers are:
- MT150/151-9
- Parallel Interface = 047021
- Serial Interface = 047050
- MT150/151-24
- Parallel Interface = 047022
- Serial Interface = 047051
If you have been supplied the incorrect part for
your printer please refer back to your supplier.

Auto View/Tear with Pull
Tractor. |
| |
Once the Printer has been fitted with a Pull
Tractor Option the Auto View/Tear Option will no longer function. The Auto
View/Tear Option will only work when the Printer is in Push Tractor Mode.

| |
MT151 Printer will only print half the width
of the page. |
| |
If this is happening to a brand new printer it
is unlikely that someone will have set your menu to a smaller width setting but
you can check by printing out the current menu settings to see it reads 13.6 inches.
If this is correct the MT150/151 detect whether they are narrow or wide
carriage by counting the number of steps they can do. For example if when initializing
the MT151 counts 81 columns it knows it can go over 80 columns so
it must be a wide carriage printer. A MT150 would count just 80 because it
cannot go any further. If this mechanism is interrupted then it is possible to
fool a MT151 into thinking it's a MT150!
