Cartridge LED is Blinking
When the Cartridge LED blinks, it can mean one of two things are wrong. Either, your cartridge is out of ink, or the wrong cartridge is installed in the printer. The most common reason is the wrong cartridge installed which probably indicates that you are trying to print in mono black and you have the colour cartridge installed or you are trying to print in colour and you have the mono black cartridge installed.
Windows Drivers
Windows drivers are available for Windows 95/98 and for NT4. If you require a driver for Windows 2000 or for Windows XP, we recommend that you use the NT4 driver. The drivers are available from our Drivers web pages. Click here for direct link to Printer Drivers Web Pages.
Printing from Parallel Port is Corrupted.
With a first installation of the printer driver and printer onto Windows, it has been known for the printing to be corrupt when using the parallel printer port. This is often cured by setting the PC parallel port to unidirectional. Within Windows, you may see options like RAW and EMF. Always select RAW. In the PC Bios you may need to set the Parallel port as Standard or as Printer Port. Do not select settings like ECP or EPP.

This will normally resolve the problem.

Water Resistance or Water Fastness

The water resistance of the ink depends on several things.

  • The type of paper. The correct shiny paper is often much more water-fast than copier paper
  • The time you let the ink dry
  • The amount of ink you have put on the paper

A test on a typical ink-jet printer showed that after 24 hours of drying, soaking in calm water for 5 minutes degraded the colour by 55 per cent.
