Memory Upgrades

There are basic specifications for simm upgrades described in the T8104 print system reference manual P/No 395 997-003a on page A-6. We have also defined this basic specification in a little more depth within an Application Note

Fuser Cleaning Roller

The fuser cleaning roller is available on its own and without an oil bottle. It has part number 375 940

Using Thick Stock

I am selecting Thick Stock in my printer driver but it does not seem to improve the print quality. What am I doing wrong ?

You must select Thick Stock in the printer menu as well as selecting it in the printer driver. The path is:

Offline->MENU->OPERATOR CONTROL->MEDIA->THICK STOCK and select it.

PCL Driver

The T8104 has PCL capability. Which PCL driver should I use ?

The T8104 in PCL5 emulates the HP PaintJet 1600C printer. Use this driver.

Setting Energy Save Mode

To change the settings Energy Save Mode you will need to follow these steps:-

  • Take the printer Off-Line by pressing On-Line.
  • Press the Menu button.
  • Press the Left or Right arrow button until "Administration" is displayed.
  • Press the Select button.
  • Press the Left or Right arrow button until "Engine" is displayed.
  • Press the Select button.
  • Press the Left or Right arrow button until "Energy Saver" is displayed.
  • Press the Select button.
  • Press the Left or Right arrow button and select desired option i.e. 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 3 hours or OFF.
  • Press the Select button twice.
  • Press On-Line button.

The printer will now have altered Power Save Mode settings and will be ready to continue Normal Operation.

Printing on A5 Paper

Place the A5 paper in the tray and set the width and length stops to fit snugly.
In the menu select:

Operator>Custom Bin>Upper (or Optional if you have it)>A5

When you print, choose A5 in the print driver and A5 in your Application.
Some applications don't offer A5 but often have Custom in which you can define A5 dimensions.

Smudged Prints

In our experience many of these smudged prints are due to misplacement of the cleaning brush. Try this. Open the top lid and lift the slotted cover right behind the electro-photographic belt. You will see a black plastic assembly marked RELEASE. Push the lever in the direction of the arrow. Lift the assembly out, and reinsert it. It should be free to float so that the brush drum can contact the big rubber drum when the cam on the right side lets it down. If it is not free then waste toner will be left on the drum.
