Flashing Lights

As can often happen, there is an error in the documentation. In the Operator's Manual, 379 517a, the table on Page 14 is wrong.

The item in the top right table should read ON LINE flashing intermittently and POWER ON (not off).

As the book says this is a paper jam or spoilers blocked. The spoilers are the two arms on which the paper rests when it exits.

The common cause of this fault is for the spoilers to get in the wrong position. Sometimes this is because the unit has been bumped. You can correct this by raising the cover and finding the hook that moves the spoilers.

Pull the power cord out. Move the hook right and left to free the mechanism. Leave it in the right-most position. Replace the power cord and switch on. The spoilers should go down, up and then down again as the head initialises.

Now the POWER light should be on and the ON LINE light on steadily. Run a test print (PAPER and POWER) to check the printer works.
