T6090 TN009 Rev New How To Convert a Line Printer with Standard Serial/Parallel Operation to Lanplex Capability. |
There have been instances when users have decided to upgrade their line printer from a standard serial/parallel operation to network capability. They have looked in the brochures and seen listed therein, a Lanplex 3 interface and have then purchased the same. Having received the Lanplex 3 interface, they are then mystified as to where to install it as it is not at all obvious. The reason for it not being obvious, is that the printer is not "Network Ready". To overcome this problem, the user needs to make his printer "Network Ready" which entails the purchase of yet another module for the printer. In the case of the T6090 and T6091 printers, the user will require two modules and, in addition, a firmware. He will require a PSIO Ready Upgrade Kit p/n 082373, a Lanplex PSIO Kit p/n 083482 and firmware version 9.3c, p/n 087361. Installation of the PSIO Ready Upgrade Kit entails removing the currently installed Interface Module and inserting the PSIO Ready Upgrade Kit in it's place. This is user installable. The Lanplex PSIO Kit then plugs directly into the PSIO Ready Upgrade Kit and secured with two screws (supplied). The firmware must then be downloaded to the printer via the parallel port from a pc running in DOS mode and the printer will need to be re-calibrated. This is best actioned by a qualified engineer. With the PSIO Ready Upgrade Kit, the Lanplex PSIO Kit and the firmware installed in the printer, the user now has the use of three different interfaces, all of which can be utilised. The interface being serviced at any one time is under the control of the printer program. |
