| T6090 TN011 Rev New Printing Barcodes From Windows Applications |
|
| Ever wanted to print barcodes
from within an application such as Microsoft Word but been disappointed by
the quality of the graphic that is produced in the printout? Well, the reason for this is that with most printers, the barcode has to be treated as a graphic image so you insert a graphic image of the barcode and then this is rendered by the printer driver and the barcode printed as a graphic image using plot mode. The clarity of the barcode is then directly influenced by the minimum dot size within the printer and the graphic resolution that you select within the driver. Now with the TallyGenicom line printers and the appropriate printer driver, this problem of print quality is resolved. Instead of inserting a graphic image into your document, simply type the data that you want to be printed as a barcode, highlight the data and then select a font! Which font to select is dependent on the barcode type you want to print. If you want a Code 3 of 9 barcode, select the Tally Code 3 of 9 barcode font and job done. When you send the document to print, the driver sends to the printer, the barcode command to select the barcode type and the barcode data, while the printer uses it's internal Barcode printing algorithm and prints the perfect barcode! So what are the minimum requirements for this? 1. Printer firmware version 9.2 or higher. There is one feature that you must set within the printer menu. In the menu, set the Darkbar parameter to Low for low density barcodes and high for high density barcodes, and save the setting to the Powerup configuration. Incidentally, this feature also applies to Windows Applications that utilise the printer fonts stored in the printer driver. |
