Printing Via The Parallel Port

The T9006 Laser printer has an IEEE 1284B compatible parallel interface. The bi-directional function of this allows the host system to recognize the printer status. A printer cable that is marked "IEEE 1284-1994 Compliant" must be used for reliable operation.

The T9006 driver and its BIDI Manager reads out the status of the printer and shows it on the screen. In addition to this, the actual memory configuration of the printer is reported to the printer driver. This allows the driver to configure the memory size to be the same as the printer.

To ensure correct operation of this, we recommend you set the BIOS of the host PC to either STANDARD, PRINTER, or SPP (this may have a different name on some PCs). Do NOT set the parallel port of the host system to ECP or EPP. These settings are not supported.

If a bi-directional connection is not taking place for any reason, the T9006 driver will assume that the printer has enough memory to print the job correctly.
