Additional Memory

We have seen a few random instances where the data in not printed on the page correctly, i.e. it is either moved up, down or across the page. This was after checking this was not due to either, the parallel interface cable (1284B spec) or the driver settings etc.

We have seen the printer report to the BIDI manager the following message "print overun". This has indicated that the usable memory has all been used and the printer requires more memory. This has been resolved by the addition of more memory.

The basic printer comes with 2 Mb memory as standard and a short calculation on a full graphics page sent to the printer at 600 dpi will indicate just how much memory is needed for one page.

We have found that the most successful way to overcome this is by adding the maximum memory the printer supports, i.e. 16 MB. This should be able to handle any graphics data sent to the printer in the future.

The part number for the additional memory is RAC1283-1
